This verse provided the inspiration and assurance that God would
provide the financial means and spiritual blessings of a place of
worship when Cornerstone Evangelical Baptist Church started in
1975. Hope for the future sustained those who attended Sunday
School classes in rented classrooms and the first worship service
in a high school auditorium. Soon God provided the opportunity
for us to move to our very own building on Lawton Street in the
Sunset District of San Francisco. Throughout the years and as our
congregation and ministry grew, we acquired additional buildings
in the Sunset District. In 1988, God blessed us with the present
Silver Avenue site for our church and school.
Initially, our church reached out to the youth from the Sunset and
Richmond Districts of San Francisco. As time passed, a strong
college ministry grew. Today, we touch the lives of all ages.
Evangelism ranges from the over 400 community children in our
summer programs to the hundreds of Bay Area adults in our outreach
programs.
For over 25 years, we have sought to ensure that Christ is the
Cornerstone of all the creative ministries in our church.
